What are Paradise hives?

Paradise hives are a type of vertical hive that is designed to provide a more natural environment for bees to live in. They are made from sustainable materials and are designed to be easy to manage.

What materials are Paradise hives made from?

Paradise hives are made from high-quality Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), including additional parts that use a range of recycled plastic materials.

How are Paradise hives different from traditional hives?

Traditional hives are usually made of wood and have a rectangular shape, while Paradise hives are often made of eco-friendly materials and have a more rounded shape. They however use exactly the same frames used in a standard Langstroth beehive.

How many frames can a Paradise hive hold?

Depending upon which Paradise hive you choose, typically come in 6, 8, 9 and 10 frames.

Are Paradise hives more difficult to manage?

Some beekeepers may find Paradise hives more difficult to manage than traditional hives, especially if they are not familiar with working on vertical hive systems like the Langstroth/ Flow hive or National bee hives. I have a small yard or rooftop, can I still have a hive?

Paradise Hives are perfect for setting-up just about anywhere.

You will need enough space to access the back of the hive for easy harvesting and your bees will require a clear space at the front of the hive for their flight path.

Using Paradise Hives

Is there any safety information I need to be aware of?

There are now two methods in how honey can be harvested however depends upon your choice of which Paradise Honey hive you choose.

Standard Method of Extracting Honey:
If choosing one on the standard Paradise Hives, harvesting honey from a hive is similar to harvesting from other types of beehives.

You will need to remove the frames with the honeycomb, extract the honey from the comb using a honey extractor/spinner, and then bottle and store the honey.

Smart Hive:
The clever guys at Paradise Honey have now developed an easy to extract honey system that can not only be stacked on top of each other, thus providing multiple supers but a bee secure method of removing the honey out of the hive using a specific drainage system. This method does not need the frames to be removed or placed into an extractor.
