These Premium Wooden WSP Beekeeping Frames are designed for the Langstroth and Australian Bee hives WSP Supers/Boxes.

These frames have specially been selected because they are designed to accept both wax foundation sheets using wires across the side bars and plastic foundation using grooves in both the top and bottom bar.

In addition in order to not only save time and money, all side bars have been pre-installed with brass eyelets ready for wiring the frames.

All frames are unassembled on delivery.

Preparation Guide for Wooden Frames

Preparing and building beekeeping wooden frames involves a few key steps, whether you’re using wire with eyelets for wax foundation or grooves for plastic foundation. Begin by assembling the wooden frames, securing the top, bottom, and side bars together using panel pins or staples together with a good quality wood glue, ensuring the frame is square and sturdy.

Adding Wax Foundation
If using wax foundation, use the small holes in the side bars provided and insert eyelets to guide the wire. Thread stainless steel wire through the eyelets, pulling it taut across the frame, and fasten it securely to provide support for the wax foundation. Embed the wax foundation onto the wires by gently pressing or using a heated embedding tool to ensure it’s firmly attached.

Using Plastic Foundation
For plastic foundation, insert the foundation into the grooves in the top and bottom bars, making sure it fits snugly without warping. You may wish to apply a light coat of beeswax to the plastic foundation to encourage the bees to draw out the comb more readily.

Please note this is essential to coat the surface of the sheet with bees wax if you purchase plastic foundation that is not coated with bees wax however is not necessary if you purchase our plastic foundation that is already wax coated.

Once the foundation is in place, check that the frame is well-constructed and secure, ready for installation into the hive. Properly prepared frames, whether for wax or plastic foundation, are crucial for a strong and efficient hive structure.
